The Pakistan Association of Otago is a community organization based in the city of Dunedin in the Otago region of New Zealand.
Our Vision for a Stronger Community
Guided by shared values, culture, and the spirit of service, the Pakistan Association of Otago (PAO) is committed to building a vibrant, empowered, and connected Pakistani community across the South Island of New Zealand.
- Women & Children Empowerment
Empowering women and nurturing children
PAO envisions a healthy and supportive environment where Pakistani women and children in the South Island thrive. We support initiatives that promote education, wellbeing, and leadership for women and children, ensuring their inclusion and active participation in all aspects of community life.
- Heritage, Culture & Arts
Celebrating and preserving cultural identity
We are committed to fostering a rich cultural environment by promoting Pakistani arts, music, literature, and heritage events. PAO celebrates cultural expression while creating opportunities for intercultural dialogue and understanding within the wider New Zealand society.
- Community Values & Integration
Unity through shared values and inclusion
Inspired by New Zealand’s multicultural principles, PAO promotes unity, equity, and mutual respect among Pakistani and other ethnic communities. We champion inclusivity, interfaith harmony, and the values of kindness, generosity, and collective wellbeing.
- Youth & Educational Development
Investing in the next generation
PAO supports young people through mentoring, career guidance, Urdu-language programmes, and leadership opportunities. Our aim is to empower youth with the confidence, skills, and cultural grounding needed to thrive and contribute meaningfully in both Pakistani and New Zealand contexts.
- Business & Professional Advancement
Driving economic growth and entrepreneurship
We aim to support professional growth within our community by facilitating networking opportunities, business mentorship, and career development resources. PAO seeks to empower individuals to unlock their potential, foster innovation, and contribute to the local and national economy.
- Community Welfare & Outreach
Fostering wellbeing and resilience
PAO is committed to supporting individuals and families through initiatives that promote physical, mental, and social wellbeing. From social support to health awareness and emergency response, our community welfare efforts are rooted in compassion and care.
