Mr. Habib Ullah is a dedicated agricultural professional with an MSc (Hons.) in Agriculture (Horticulture) and hands-on experience working with leading multinational organizations such as Syngenta and Bayer (Pvt.) Limited.
He has solid expertise in crop and soil science, livestock, and environmental management, along with a practical understanding of farm operations, including irrigation, crop rotation, fertilization, and pest control. Habib is known for developing high-yield, environmentally friendly farming strategies, with a strong grasp of the social and economic aspects of agriculture.
Habib is also a committed community leader. He is one of the founding members of the Pakistan Association of Otago and previously served as Joint Secretary. In this role, he worked closely with the President and other board members to manage daily operations, organize community events, maintain official records, coordinate stakeholder communications, draft reports, and support fundraising efforts.
In 2025, Habib joined the Board of the Pakistan Association of Otago. As a Board Member, he continues to play a vital role in shaping the vision and future of the organization. He is dedicated to promoting unity, cultural pride, and sustainable growth within the Pakistani community in Otago. His vision is to bridge knowledge, community, and innovation—cultivating strong roots for a vibrant, inclusive future
Dr Ahmed Khan is a Dunedin-based finance and regulatory professional, originally from Pakistan, and currently serving as a Board Member of the Pakistan Association of Otago. With over a decade of experience across academia and industry, he brings a well-rounded perspective to his community role, grounded in a mix of professional expertise and a strong commitment to social cohesion.
Ahmed is passionate about helping others and strengthening ties across the local Pakistani community. Since moving to New Zealand, he has taken an active interest in supporting new migrants, students, and families as they settle into life here. He believes in the importance of building a sense of belonging and cultural pride, while also encouraging integration and shared experiences with the wider Otago community.
Professionally, Ahmed works in the energy sector, where he focuses on electricity distribution pricing and regulatory strategy. His background includes policy development and financial analysis. While his career is grounded in corporate and regulatory work, he believes that well-designed systems and clear communication can make a real difference in people’s lives.
He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Waikato, as well as an MBA and BBA (Hons.) from the University of Central Punjab. He has published research in peer-reviewed international finance journals.
As a board member, Ahmed focuses on education, youth engagement, and professional development. He supports initiatives that help young Pakistanis grow in confidence, build connections, and stay connected to their culture. As a parent, he also values family-friendly events that bring people together.
Ahmed’s vision for the Association is to act as a bridge between Kiwi communities and those who have migrated here to call New Zealand home. He sees the Association as a platform for belonging, shared identity, and mutual understanding.
Dr Asrar Elahi is a founding member of Pakistan Association of Otago Inc. and head of Art & Culture Wing-PAO. His responsibilities encompass shaping the association’s vision and crafting its strategic direction. Additionally, as head of the Art & Culture Committee within PAO, he takes charge of orchestrating various art-related initiatives and fostering the promotion of art and culture within the community.
Over the past years, the Art & Culture Wing-PAO, under his leadership has achieved several milestones, including the successful conduct of the 1st PAO Art Exhibition themed “Colours of Pakistan”. In addition to this, he orchestrated the first-ever Islamic Art & Calligraphy exhibition and the 1st Islamic Art Workshop, conducted in collaboration with MW Calligraphy Art from Auckland. Asrar’s vision and strategic restructuring not only transformed the Art & Culture Wing but elevated it to the status of a division, with the inclusion of multiple heads representing diverse artistic disciplines. Notably, he secured funding from local association to support these exhibitions and workshops. As an instructor, he effectively guided the first batch of five-week Beginners Painting Classes. Moreover, Dr Asrar is also an active member of the Otago Art Society, where he exhibits his paintings.
His commitment to effective governance is underscored by his belief that strong leadership is a cornerstone for the growth of any organization or nation. To enhance his governance skills, Asrar participated in a Community Governance Workshop and completed a 6-months Community Governance Mentorship Program organised by Mentoring NZ and South Volunteers in collaboration with Community Governance NZ under the mentorship of Malcolm Wong.
Professionally, Dr Asrar recently completed his PhD in Dentistry from University of Otago. Beyond his academic achievements, he harbours an interest in entrepreneurship. Recently he started his own DCC approved ethnic food business called ‘Basboosa Bites’. Presently, he is engaged in the development of his own art and Photography business and a Medtech venture rooted in the insights derived from his PhD, after consulting with Startup Dunedin.
